Fans Chant For Shawn Michaels During AEW Dynamite

AEW fans chanted for Shawn Michaels in his hometown

Fans were chanting for a certain Sexy Boy during the December 21 edition of Dynamite.

All Elite Wrestling's flagship show emanated from Shawn Michaels' hometown of San Antonio, Texas this week and during a promo about his issues with AEW World Champion MJF, Bryan Danielson recalled being first trained in professional wrestling by The Heartbreak Kid and Rudy Boy Gonzalez before he acknowledged the influence William Regal had on his career.

"Here's the thing, I was first trained by Rudy Boy Gonzalez and Shawn Michaels, but the man who turned me into the wrestler I am today is William Regal. Not only did he turn me into the wrestler I am today, but the person I am today," Danielson said.

The American Dragon's mention of Michaels caused "HBK" chants to break out in the arena before they died away as Danielson continued his promo. Michaels, of course, is not a part of AEW and he is a key figure in WWE as Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative, managing the day-to-day running of NXT.

After graduating from high school in 1999, Danielson trained at Rudy Boy Gonzalez and Shawn Michaels' Texas Wrestling Academy. Danielson would later receive a developmental deal from WWE, during which he was trained by William Regal. The Gentleman Villain remained influential in Danielson's career after he departed WWE, providing advice for The American Dragon as he developed into arguably the best wrestler of his generation in Ring of Honor.
