In the main event of NXT TakeOver: 31, Finn Balor and Kyle O'Reilly battled back and forth in a hard-hitting affair. Both men gave every ounce of strength they had left for the NXT Championship but after 28 minutes, The Prince caught the challenger with the Coup De Grace to pick up the win.
Both men left the match battered and bloodied and could face some time on the sidelines. Triple H revealed during the post-NXT TakeOver: 31 media call that Balor had been rushed to a local hospital to examine a possible injury.
WWE later provided an update on both competitors. O'Reilly has multiple broken teeth while Finn will undergo CAT scans to determine the severity of "potential facial fractures."
The statement reads:
"The main event of NXT TakeOver 31 was a brutal, hard-hitting battle for the NXT Championship between Finn Bálor and Undisputed ERA’s Kyle O’Reilly. In the aftermath of the grueling main event, it has become evident that both Superstars are worse for wear.
