First Team Confirmed For 2022 Dusty Classic On WWE NXT

The seventh annual tournament kicks off soon

As seen on last night’s edition of WWE NXT 2.0, the build to the Dusty Rhodes Classic tag Team Tournament has begun, and we have our first team confirmed for the men’s tournament.

Edris Enofe and Malik Blade are the first names confirmed for the Dusty Classic, having gotten past Joe Gacy and Harland, thanks to a disqualification when Harland’s beat-down of the pair got too intense for the referee’s liking, with the furious rookie ignoring the five-count.

The winners of the 2021 men’s Dusty Classic MSK were shown admiring the cup during NXT’s broadcast, as co-winner of the women’s edition Dakota Kai warned them that the cup destroys friendships.

As of yet no names have been announced for the women’s tournament, following on from 2021’s inaugural edition. It is assumed that the formats of the tournaments will stay the same as in 2021, with sixteen men’s teams in round one, going on to quarter finals, semi finals, and the final, with eight teams battling for the women’s cup.

First held in 2015, the Dusty Rhodes Classic has become one of the touch-points of NXT’s calendar year. The men's tournament is due to start on next week's NXT 2.0, with the women's tournament scheduled to start in February.
