Report: Former EVOLVE Star Anthony Henry Signs With WWE

The former EVOLVE Tag Team Champion will head to the Performance Center

After purchasing EVOLVE in July 2020, WWE signed multiple wrestlers who formerly worked for the promotion including Brandi Lauren, Josh Briggs, Anthony Greene (August Grey), Curt Stallion and Joe Gacy. Former referee Jake Clemons was also brought in.

WWE has now signed another former EVOLVE star, according to PWInsider's Mike Johnson. The company signed former EVOLVE Tag Team Champion and Full Impact Pro World Heavyweight Champion Anthony Henry recently and he will be training at the WWE Performance Center ahead of his eventual NXT debut. He previously attended a WWE tryout in October 2020.

Henry finished up with Premiere Wrestling Xperience over the weekend and posted a heartfelt goodbye to the promotion on Twitter. His final independent wrestling match will be against Nolan Edward on February 12 for ACTION Wrestling.

Back in June 2020, Henry announced he would be retiring at the end of the year. He ultimately decided to stick around on the indies until February, though, and told POST Wrestling's Andrew Thompson he would be done with independent wrestling unless he had signed somewhere.
