Former WCW Talent Possibly Signs With WWE

Former WCW talent back with WWE?

A former WCW talent may have returned to WWE on a full-time basis.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Dave Taylor has been seen at recent WWE TV tapings and he is either back full-time with the company or is in the process of receiving a producer tryout.

"A very interesting name has been popping up of late. I am told that British star David Taylor, who of course worked for World Championship Wrestling and then later was Drew McIntyre’s first partner in WWE, is back with the company. He's been seen in some fashion at some WWE NXT tapings and at the Performance Center. I'm also told he’s been at some SmackDowns on the road. One person told me they believe he might be getting a tryout as a producer. However, I have not seen him listed as a producer on any sort of lists that we get about who's working behind the scenes on the show. So it could be that he's there kind of feeling out the process," Mike Johnson said.

"I do wanna caution this - some people have told me they've seen him, and some people have told me they haven't seen him at all. And it's people who are at the same shows. So I'm not sure what's going on there, but that's one to continue to follow as we go further into the Summer, but it appears to be that Dave Taylor is back in some way, shape or form with the company. Whether it's just a tryout or he's back full-time I can't tell you, or he's just... maybe the two sides are just feeling each other out. But I have heard his name bounced around quite a bit in the last couple of weeks actually. So it's not even a couple of days, it's a couple of weeks."

Dave Taylor, a British-born former wrestler, began his career in the United Kingdom before heading to WCW in the mid-1990s. He was repackaged as Squire David Taylor in The Blue Bloods stable with Lord Steven Regal and Earl Robert Eaton. Taylor would team with Regal on and off until they left the company in 2000.

After a short run in WWE, Taylor was brought back to the company in 2006 where he worked as a trainer in WWE developmental before he rekindled his tag team with William Regal. Taylor would later become Drew McIntyre's first tag team partner and mentor for a few months in 2007 prior to Taylor's release in April 2008.

Another former WCW talent in Glacier was recently hired by All Elite Wrestling as a producer/coach.
