Former WWE referee Marty Elias has recalled Vince McMahon's reaction backstage to Triple H's serious injury at New Year's Revolution 2007.
The Game and Shawn Michaels challenged Randy Orton and Edge for the Raw Tag Team Championships on the show, only for Triple H to tear his right quadriceps during the match.
The NXT Executive Producer would end up missing seven months of WWE television, while plans for WrestleMania 23 had to be quickly changed.
With the match being declared a no-contest by Elias, the official has now recalled how McMahon pulled him to one side backstage and thanked him for looking after his son-in-law following his serious injury.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's UnSKripted, he said on McMahon: "He never really gave me feedback unless it was something he was nitpicking at, but I do recall, it was New Year’s Revolution and unfortunately it was when Triple H got injured and stuff.
"After the match, we called it a no-contest and all that, we got to the back. Vince pulled me aside and he told me straight up. He goes: ‘Thank you for being out there and for being where you were because you really helped Paul (Triple H) and thank you for being out there and for taking care of him.’ And I said, 'That’s my job, boss.'"
