Fred Rosser, formerly known as Darren Young during his time wrestling in WWE, departed New Japan Pro Wrestling earlier in 2026, before wrestling sporadically on the independent scene throughout the rest of the year. The next step in his journey has been revealed, and it involves a return to WWE.
The former WWE Tag Team Champion took to Instagram to reveal his new role as a Performance Center coach, along with a picture next to Shawn Michaels.
"Nine years ago today, I was released from @WWE. Today, I'm back at @wwenxt, fighting back tears of joy every time I pull up to the Performance Center and grateful for the opportunity to give back to the next generation. I'm always hearing what WWE is looking for NOW I'm able to see it for myself and be a sponge in this environment.I once stood in this environment, beating on my craft alongside incredible coaches, and quickly made my way to the main roster. Now, I'm back sharing those experiences and helping shape the future. And when you talk about NXT, don't forget the ORIGINAL NXT! MR. NO DAYS OFF baby! Nine years later, still standing, still inspiring, and STILL NO DAYS OFF! WWE, thank you for the opportunity."
It was reported over the last week that NXT and WWE’s Performance Center could be on the verge of an overhaul with Shawn Michaels rumoured for a promotion to the main roster.
