Former WWE Writer Recalls CM Punk Refusing To Put Over The Rock In WWE Promo

Punk's response to the verbiage was 'F*ck that'

Former WWE writer Matt McCarthy has claimed that CM Punk once refused to deliver scripted lines that were written in order to put over The Rock.

This was back in early 2013, when The Straight-Edge Superstar was feuding with The Great One over Punk's WWE Title.

Noting that there were some rocky moments (no pun intended) on the road to Punk and The Rock's WWE Title match at the Royal Rumble, McCarthy recalled a particular incident where Punk refused to use the lines that were given to him.

Speaking on the Universal Wrestling Podcast, the former writer said:

"I remember Punk being handed a promo about The Rock and him refusing to [say it]. He's like, 'So now I've got to f*cking put over The Rock? F*ck that'. I remember that happening. I don't recall anyone walking out per se".

Punk would lose the WWE Title to The Rock at the Rumble and then put him over once more in the rematch at Elimination Chamber.
