The finalists of the 2025 G1 Climax have been determined, as two names progressed through the semi finals at today’s show at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, though it wasn’t the pairing that everyone expected.
In the first semi-final, EVIL defeated the younger Yota Tsuji in a result that hasn’t gone down all too well with the NJPW faithful. The House Of Torture once again got involved, prompting Tsuji’s allies to get involved too, leading to brawls and low blows all around after a referee bump. As Tsuji and EVIL went back and forth, Bad Luck Fale nailed Tsuji with a low blow, leading to EVIL leaving him unconscious with a Darkness Scorpion. After the match, the referee refused to reverse the decision.
In the other semi-final, reigning IWGP Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. fell to AEW’s Konosuke Takeshita. Towards the end of a strong bout, ZSJ looked to try and squeeze out a win with an armbar, only for Takeshita to make the ropes. The pair traded some big moves and slaps, but Takeshita ultimately got the job done with a Powerdrive Knee and a Raging Fire to beat the champion.
Takeshita and EVIL will meet in the finals tomorrow. Both men are first-time finalists. ZSJ will be defending his title at the upcoming Forbidden Door PPV, with his challenger determined at Collision tapings.
