Gran Metalik Thanks Vince McMahon For His WWE Release

Metalik and Lince Dorado were released by WWE on Thursday

Gran Metalik has taken to social media to thank Vince McMahon for his WWE release, amid reports he had requested his departure from the company a few weeks ago.

Metalik and tag-team partner Lince Dorado were two of the 18 names released by WWE on Thursday 4 November in the latest round of 'budget cut' related departures from the promotion.

It was reported in September that Metalik had asked to be let out of his contract by WWE, with the Lucha star making his final appearance on WWE programming in a tag-team match with Dorado against Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo on the September 16 WWE Main Event.

Having secured his release from WWE, Metalik has thanked WWE Chairman McMahon for listening to his request.

Metalik wrote on Twitter: "Thank you WWE universe for welcoming me with open arms during my stay in the company. Thank you @VinceMcMahon for granting me my release.

"I will miss you WWE universe. Remember the most important thing in life is to be Happy. See you soon. “The king of the ropes” Mascara Dorada."

Metalik and Dorado first appeared on WWE television when they competed in the 2016 WWE Cruiserweight Classic, leading to them earning contracts with the company. The two men, alongside Kalisto would form Lucha House Party in January 2018, although Kalisto would be released by the company in April.
