Gunther Admits Imperium Split Was "A Rough Few Days"

Gunther comments on Imperium's split

While Fabian Aichner, Marcel Barthel, and Gunther had been together in WWE in recent years, Imperium disbanded earlier this month after Der Ring General and Barthel (now named Ludwig Kaiser) were called up to Friday Night SmackDown, leaving Aichner on NXT.

Speaking to Cultaholic Wrestling's Tom Campbell about the split ahead of WWE's latest UK tour, Gunther noted Aichner was in good spirits but that the split was a "rough few days" for Barthel and his former tag team partner.

"Yeah, he is, definitely. Obviously for him and Ludwig it was a little bit of a rough few days because they worked so hard together for so many years and stuff like that, and now everybody has to go their own way a little bit," Gunther said.

"But you've got to look forward and stay positive about things. It's a new challenge for Ludwig and me but also for Fabian, it's going to be a new challenge for whatever he's going to do going forward."

Gunther also revealed he has no idea if Aichner will join him and Kaiser on SmackDown but he is hoping Imperium can reform in the future, adding: "I guess the end goal is it's gonna be three of us again."

Gunther's main roster call-up comes only a few months after he decided to move to the United States and live in the country full-time. Find out why he made the move here
