Gunther Chooses Next WWE Intercontinental Championship Opponent

Gunther's next challenger for the WWE Intercontinental Championship is set.

WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther has chosen his next opponent, with a title match and unique stipulation agreed upon.

On last night's edition of Raw, the long-reigning IC Champion teamed with his Imperium stablemates in a losing effort, being beaten by DIY and their unusual choice of mystery partner, The Miz.

Later backstage, after berating Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci for their role in the loss, Gunther was confronted by The Miz who again asked for a title rematch. (The pair clashed last month at Survivor Series WarGames, with Gunther retaining the title via submission. Miz has been seeking a rematch ever since.)

A frustrated Gunther agreed to the rematch - but only under the stipulation that if Miz loses, he can no longer challenge for the Intercontinental Championship as long as Gunther holds the title.

The Austrian Superstar has been IC Champion for 547 days at the time of writing, the longest single reign in the title's history. He won the belt from Ricochet on an episode of WWE SmackDown in June 2022.
