GUNTHER’s reign as Intercontinental Champion has been quite the spectacle, and he has continuously been passing major milestones on his way to a record-breaking run with the gold. He very recently passed yet another historic milestone.

GUNTHER just surpassed 281 days as the Intercontinental Champion, making him the longest-running champion since the record-breaking reign of The Honky Tonk Man, who held the gold for a stunning 454 days. GUNTHER’s reign is the longest in three decades, which just goes to show how dominant his run with the belt has been.

Still standing in the way when it comes to Intercontinental Title reigns are Pedro Morales, whose reign lasted for 425 days, Don Muraco, who held the gold for 385 days, Randy Savage, who was champion for 414 days, and finally Greg Valentine, whose 285-day reign will be surpassed by GUNTHER in the next week.

GUNTHER is scheduled to defend the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 39 in what will be his biggest test to date, as he does battle against Drew McIntyre and Sheamus in a triple threat match.
