Hiroshi Tanahashi Signs NJPW Contract Extension

Hiroshi Tanahashi signs a new deal with NJPW

The Ace won't be leaving New Japan Pro-Wrestling anytime soon.

Taking to his blog, Hiroshi Tanahashi announced that he recently visited the offices of New Japan and renewed his contract with the promotion. How long Tanahashi is now under contract for is currently unknown. NJPW talents' contracts often expire at the beginning of the year around Wrestle Kingdom.

Tanahashi has been a part of New Japan Pro-Wrestling since 1999, rising through the promotion to become New Japan's ace and an eight-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion. He remained the top star of the promotion until 2016's Wrestle Kingdom 10, where he was defeated by Kazuchika Okada.

Tanahashi has continued to be a star for NJPW, though, winning more titles, and he revealed earlier this year that he plans to be IWGP World Heavyweight Champion by 2024. Currently, The Ace is locked in another feud with KENTA.

Outside of NJPW, Tanahashi has also competed for the likes of AEW, Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling NOAH, RevPro, and CMLL.
