Hiroshi Tanahashi Wins Interim AEW World Title Eliminator At NJPW Dominion
Hiroshi Tanahashi advances to Forbidden Door
Jon Moxley's opponent at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door has been set.
Hiroshi Tanahashi went one-on-one with Hirooki Goto in an AEW World Title Eliminator at today's Dominion event from Osaka-Jo Hall. After both men fought back and forth, The Ace picked up the win following a Slingblade, Aces High, and the High Fly Flow.
With the win, Hiroshi Tanahashi will square off with Moxley for the Interim AEW World Championship at Forbidden Door on June 26 in Chicago, Illinois. A singles match between the two men has been teased going back to the summer of 2021. Tanahashi and Moxley recently faced each other in a Four-Way over the IWGP United States Heavyweight Title that also featured Juice Robinson and Will Ospreay at Capital Collision on May 14.
An Interim AEW World Champion needed to be crowned after CM Punk picked up an injury on the June 1 episode of Dynamite. The interim champion will face Punk when he returns from injury to crown an Undisputed AEW World Champion.
