Huge Title Change On WWE Raw

It didn't involve the ladder match...

On last night's episode of Monday Night Raw, Andrade defended his United States Championship against Rey Mysterio as they looked to put an exclamation point on their long-running rivalry. After a back and forth contest in which both Superstars dished out enormous amounts of punishment, Mysterio looked set to regain the US title.

However, as he scaled the ladder, Zelina Vega entered the match and blocked his path to the championship. Being an honourable man, Mysterio refused to use physical violence to remove her which allowed Andrade to capitalise and deliver a Hammerlock DDT through a ladder. With Mysterio unconscious, Andrade climbed the ladder and retained the United States Championship.

Before the match began, Seth Rollins and his disciples opened Monday Night Raw. After a long promo, The Monday Night Messiah was eventually interrupted by Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe. Rollins then invited his rivals to the ring so they could carry on from where they left off last week. K.O. and Joe accepted but explained they wouldn't be fighting alone.

The Viking Raiders' music then played as the babyface opposition to Rollins and his disciples coalesced. The segment then broke down into a brawl, with The Beast Slayer and his cronies eventually being forced to retreat backstage.

A reporter then caught up with Rollins and he declared he and Buddy Murphy would challenge The Viking Raiders for the Raw Tag Team Championships later in the episode.

During their title defence, Ivar & Erik looked set to retain their titles as Ivar got ready to deliver a Splash from the top rope to end Murphy's night. However, neither he nor Erik noticed Rollins sneak up behind them. The Monday Night Messiah then pushed Ivar off the top rope, causing him to smash into the ring apron and topple to the floor, putting him out of commission for the rest of the evening.

With Erik alone to defend the Championships, Rollins and his disciple took advantage as Murphy delivered a knee to the champion. Erik was then draped over the bottom rope, and after The Best Kept Secret distracted the referee, Rollins connected with a stomp to his opponent. Murphy then capitalised, covering the champion for the 1-2-3.

With that, The Monday Night Messiah and his new faction captured the Raw Tag Team Championships. This begins Rollins' sixth Tag Team title reign as he has previously held the titles with Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Jason Jordan, Braun Strowman and now Buddy Murphy.
