Injured Star Returns On WWE Raw

A former champion made their return on the May 20 edition of Monday Night Raw.

The show featured a number one contender's four-way and Zoey Stark & Shayna Baszler ended up winning the match to earn a shot at the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships. This led to a backstage segment later in the show where Sonya Deville made her return and offered a handshake to the new number one contenders, with a proposal at the tip of her tongue. Baszler rejected any plans Deville might have had, though, to bring the segment to an end. 

Sonya Deville had been out of action since July 2023 when she sustained a torn ACL in a tag team match with Chelsea Green against Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair. Deville and Green had only been WWE Women's Tag Team Champions for two weeks when Deville suffered the major injury. Piper Niven ended up replacing Deville as champion. 

Sonya Deville made use of her time away from the ring, getting married in early 2024 to fitness model Toni Cassano in a ceremony at The Legacy Castle in New Jersey. Many pro wrestlers and personalities were in attendance, including Charlotte Flair, Andrade, Chelsea Green, Matt Cardona, Bianca Belair, Montez Ford, Bayley, Liv Morgan, Mandy Rose, McKenzie Mitchell, and Vic Joseph.
