Intercontinental Championship Match Set For Tonight's Episode Of WWE SmackDown
Will The Monster Among Men taste gold once again?
Jan 31, 2020
In recent weeks, fans have criticised Friday Night SmackDown for seemingly going through the motions. Beyond The Fiend and Daniel Bryan's rivalry, there has been little to excite those watching the blue brand with shows consistently being main evented by Roman Reigns and King Corbin, who have been in an on and off feud with each other for almost a year.
WWE looks set to get out of its slump tonight, however, as
the company announceda card with huge ramifications for the future of SmackDown.
Sheamus will aim to continue the hot streak he has been on since returning from injury as he faces Shorty G in a rematch from the Royal Rumble. The Celtic Warrior won the two Superstars' first encounter after 12 minutes.
Braun Strowman will also finally get an opportunity at the Intercontinental Championship as he goes one on one against The King Of Strong Style Shinsuke Nakamura. Rumours have floated in recent months that the pair would face off at TLC and then the Royal Rumble, but the match was never added to the card. They have previously faced off in a non-title match, however, which The Monster Among Men won with a Running Powerslam.
The number one contender for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships will also be determined on tonight's show as The Revival, Lucha House Party, Heavy Machinery, and The Miz & John Morrison fight it out for a shot at The New Day.
In the main event, we will see a repeat from last week as Roman Reigns & The Usos team together against King Corbin, Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode.
Tonight's episode of Friday Night SmackDown is live from the Bok Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The announced card is as follows:
