The landscape of WWE has once again changed forever upon the announcement that Vince McMahon has resigned from his role as Executive Chairman in WWE & TKO following the emergence of a lawsuit that alleged him to be involved in a sex trafficking and abuse scandal. With McMahon now fully gone from WWE & TKO in every capacity, reactions to this news from backstage in WWE & TKO have come to light.
According to a report from PWInsider, the overwhelming reaction to this news is “happiness” and “relief”, with the feeling among some that McMahon got what was coming to him following the allegations made in the lawsuit. Over the last 24 hours, with the news of Slim Jim pulling their sponsorship from the Royal Rumble and others potentially following suit, McMahon’s resignation was somewhat expected but not as quickly as it ended up happening.
Per the report, one source noted that McMahon was "a black cloud hanging over everything even though he wasn't involved in anything", with McMahon no longer having an input in WWE creative and remaining in more of a “ceremonial” role at this point. Among the more positive reactions to this news, there is a hope that Stephanie McMahon will return to the company, though with new ownership under Endeavor it isn’t known how she would fit in.
