Jay White Claims He Is The Real Belt Collector At NJPW Wrestling Dontaku

A war of words rekindled

The war of words between Bullet Club and The Elite had died down over the past couple of months but the battle was rekindled earlier today at Wrestling Dontaku.

Following his NEVER Openweight Title win over Hiroshi Tanahashi, Jay White gave the customary post-match promo. The Switchblade ran down his achievements in New Japan Pro-Wrestling and highlighted his reigns as IWGP United States, Intercontinental and Heavyweight Champion before pointing out he is the only person in history to have held the three belts and the NEVER title.

White then claimed he is the "real belt collector" and anyone who disputes that knows where to find him.

With the claim, White has seemingly positioned himself on a collision course with Kenny Omega. The Best Bout Machine has proclaimed himself as The Belt Collector since he captured the AEW World Championship back in December and he has since added the IMPACT World Title to his collection, having defeated Rich Swann at Rebellion.

If White's comments will play into a clash with Omega once the COVID-19 pandemic is over remains to be seen, but AEW and NJPW do now have a working relationship and many expect The Elite to show up in New Japan when they are able to do so.
