Jay White Clarifies His Status In AEW/NJPW

Jay White crossed the forbidden door much to everyone’s surprise in February 2022

It was one of the more fleeting and surprising ‘forbidden door’ crossings when Bullet Club leader Jay White turned up in AEW in February 2022, with rumour mills going into the overdrive about ‘The Switchblade’ testing the waters for a full AEW run.

With White operating outside of Japan since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, many assumed White’s relationship with NJPW was rocky, but White himself has addressed this, saying during an appearance on The Sessions with Renee Paquette:

“I didn’t sign with them [AEW] or anything like that,” White said. “I’m still with New Japan but luckily I have a fair bit of freedom where I can go and do what I want so to speak. I thought it was kind of known, there was never one of those sweet graphics put out with me so…”

White has been seen most recently in IMPACT Wrestling, where he brought The Good Brothers back into Bullet Club, and kicked out long-serving members Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa.
