Jay White To Defend NEVER Openweight Title Against Tomohiro Ishii At NJPW Battle In The Valley

With a stipulation for Ishii

A NEVER Openweight Championship match has been set for New Japan Pro-Wrestling's next major show in the United States.

NJPW will hold Battle In The Valley from the San Jose Civic Center on November 13. The promotion announced on October 25 that Jay White will defend the NEVER Openweight Title against Tomohiro Ishii at the event.

Ishii challenged White for the gold following Switchblade's win over David Finlay at Resurgence in August. White would eventually accept The Stone Pitbull's challenge but with the stipulation that Ishii can never challenge for the title again if he loses on November 13.

Ishii has become synonymous with the NEVER Openweight Title since the belt's creation in 2012 and he has held the championship on five occasions.

Ishii and Jay White also feuded earlier this year and the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion defeated Ishii at Castle Attack in February.

No other matches have been announced for Battle In The Valley as of yet but the likes of Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay and Buddy Matthews are all scheduled to appear.
