New Japan’s Jeff Cobb has suffered a knee injury during this week’s first two nights of Wrestle Kingdom 16.
Cobb is believed to have first injured his knee during a six-man tag match pitting Cobb and United Empire stablemates Will Ospreay, and Great O-Khan against Los Ingobernables de Japon’s Tetsuya Naito, SANADA, and BUSHI.
Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer said "Cobb's knee was definitely hurting in the match, even though it really got hurt more the second day,” and that Cobb “got injured very early in the match," against Naito on night two.
As of writing there is no word as to the severity of Cobb’s injury nor how much time he will take off to recuperate, if any.
This comes after a stellar 2021 for Cobb, with Cobb making it to the G-1 Finals undefeated, before losing to Kazuchika Okada in the final, as well as being the main representatives of United Empire with Khan for most of 2021, as Ospreay was out injured, and Aaron Henare unable to enter Japan.
