Jeff Hardy Walks Back On Saying He's Going To AEW

No more words about AEW… for the time being at least

Jeff Hardy has gone back on comments that suggested the former WWE Champion was going to AEW.

Hardy made the comments in a video interview with Jared Myers earlier this week, but has now taken to Twitter to clarify his position:

“Nothing is official, SocialMedia. It can’t be right now. I’ve simply set a goal for myself & I will achieve it… eventually? The main thing is, ‘Don’t get excited!’” posted Hardy after the AEW story made the rounds.

As Hardy is still under a 90-day no-compete clause with WWE following his exit, it prevents him from formally negotiating or dealing with companies such as AEW until the clause expires. As such, Hardy will not legally be able to enter formal discussions with AEW - or any other major wrestling company - about signing a full-time deal until March 9 at the very earliest.

Hardy exited WWE in December after walking out of a match at a house show and exiting through the crowd. WWE have made overtures about bringing ‘The Charismatic Enigma’ back in to the WWE - reportedly to keep him away from AEW - but so far Jeff has resisted WWE’s attempts at reconciliation.
