Surely the most surprising announcement so far.

Jeff Jarrett has been officially announced as the latest inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame.

The 50 year old had two stints in WWE between 1992 and 1999, separated by a short stint with WCW in 1996-97. He must surely be considered a surprising induction, given the fact that he was a top star in WCW during the dying days of the Monday Night Wars, and his role as a key figure in Impact Wrestling for many years.

Jarrett made his professional in-ring debut in 1986 for his father's Continental Wrestling Association promotion. His WWF debut came in 1992, where he was a part of the cross-promotional angle between WWF and the United States Wrestling Association. His first match saw him defeat Kamala via DQ.

Over the course of his career, Jarrett became a six-time Intercontinental Champion, as well as a European Champion. He held the Tag Team titles once alongside Owen Hart.

Jarrett jumped to WCW in 1999 and became a main event star, winning the WCW World Heavyweight Championship four times. His departure from WWF led to real-life animosity with Vince McMahon, who announced Jarrett's firing on television after acquiring WCW.

Jarrett founded TNA along with his father in 2002, and was an active figure in the promotion (both in-ring and behind the scenes) until 2014. He became a six-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion - when the title was defended in TNA as the promotion's top belt - and was inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame in 2015.

Jarrett went on to found Global Force Wrestling in 2014, and the promotion eventually merged with Impact in 2017. On September 5th last year, it was announced that Jarrett had taken an indefinite leave of absence from GFW, and Impact announced the termination of its relationship with both Jarrett and GFW in October.

Jarrett joins Goldberg, the Dudley Boyz, and Ivory as the confirmed members of WWE's class of 2018 so far.
