Jim Ross has been suffering from several ailments and injuries over the last several months, fighting off a colon cancer diagnosis through surgery and experiencing another ‘bad fall’. This comes after a rough 2024 for Ross in which he underwent surgery for skin cancer, a wrist complaint, and being hospitalised due to shortness of breath. He did manage to return to the commentary booth for AEW at the recent AEW All In Texas 2025 PPV, making his first appearance for a while.

A new update has been provided on Jim Ross’ AEW status, as it has been revealed that his deal with the company is soon to expire. Speaking on his ‘Grilling Jr’ podcast, Jim Ross revealed that his contract was up soon, but isn’t planning on going anywhere.

“I think my contract’s up in August… like this month.”

He noted that he was hopeful for a new deal and it is currently in the works of being negotiated.

“I love where I am, because nobody has ever taken care of me as good as Tony Khan is and has. So that’s why I’m so content about being there. I want to stay there in AEW, and I want to work more. I want to be able to contribute more. So that’s my goal. Is to stay healthy and contribute more to the company that pays me.”
