Jim Ross Claims He Didn't Know Jon Moxley Was Debuting At AEW Double Or Nothing

Good ol' JR was as surprised as anyone...

Jon Moxley wading his way through the crowd at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas was, in the eyes of many, the perfect way to hammer AEW's Double or Nothing home. To fans, there was no guarantee that the former Dean Ambrose, free agent or not, would show his face on Saturday night, so it was quite the surprise seeing him there.

Add commentator Jim Ross to the list of individuals caught off guard by the Moxley intrusion.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Ross says he had no idea that Moxley was going to debut on the show, and apparently had no idea that the former WWE Champion was even in the building.

Said the legendary announcer, “I didn’t know it was going to happen. I knew we were negotiating with Moxley. I asked what was happening with him about 10 days ago, and I was told it was going well, but when it came time for the show, his name wasn’t anywhere on my format sheet. It left my mind because I had more I knew I had to prepare for.”

Ross also called the debut a "Stone Cold moment", putting over Moxley's, "...passion and raw, animal magnetism."
