Mauro Ranallo

Mauro Ranallo is one of the great modern commentators, with Ranallo’s run on WWE NXT during their classic period widely praised.

Since departing WWE in August 2020, Ranallo has largely stayed away from calling pro wrestling - save for a one-night shot with IMPACT to call Kenny Omega vs. Rich Swann at Rebellion 2021 - and some fans have called for Ranallo to join AEW, especially with new show Collision set to debut later this month.

There have been no concrete rumours linking Ranallo to AEW, though, and AEW’s Jim Ross doesn’t see Ranallo joining the team, saying the following during a virtual signing with K & S WrestleFest:

“He’s a friend of mine… No (I don’t see him coming to AEW). He has mental health issues. He can help any organisation, Mauro. Mauro Ranallo is that good. But he’s not a great traveler and that’s not knocking Mauro. It’s just he has issues that are more important than who’s doing Dynamite next week,” said Ross.

Ranallo’s struggles with depression are well documented, with Ranallo diagnosed as living with bipolar disorder.
