Jim Ross may already be home following a second brain surgery, with Conrad Thompson revealing on Wednesday that the hope was JR would be heading home around 3 pm local time.
"I just heard GREAT NEWS from @JRsBBQ’s daughter: Procedure went well. He is in recovery right now. Will hopefully be heading home around 3," Thompson tweeted.
Jim Ross announced this week that he was due to undergo a second brain surgery on October 7 due to an issue with his shunt. The legendary announcer previously underwent brain shunt surgery on August 12, 2026, to remove excess cerebrospinal fluid on his brain. The surgery involved a thin tube being implanted in Ross' brain to allow the excess fluid to flow through the shunt to another part of JR's body, where it would then be absorbed into the blood stream.
The 74-year-old has suffered from numerous health issues in recent years, including undergoing treatment for skin cancer in 2025. The excess fluid resulted in Ross having a month-long stay in hospital earlier this year.
Following the August surgery, Ross noted he had been suffering from "prominent and bad headaches" and he had also suffered a fall.
