Jim Ross: There's Nobody Better Than Randy Orton Right Now

Good Ol' JR has had his say...

Jim Ross believes there isn't a better professional wrestler in the world today than WWE superstar Randy Orton.

Orton has enjoyed arguably the run of his career over the last 12 months or so, turning heel for an intense feud with Edge at WrestleMania 36 and Backlash last year before stepping into a rivalry with Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship.

The Viper has just finished up a run with 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt, which culminated in a win for Orton at WrestleMania 37, and Ross has commended the 41-year-old for his recent work.

The AEW commentator was looking back at WrestleMania 27, where Orton faced CM Punk, and Ross had nothing but good things to say about both.

Speaking on the 'Grilling JR' Podcast, he said: "They had a real good match, I’m a big fan of both guys. I just wish [CM Punk] was back in the business, at least on a part time basis because I think he has a lot to offer. Not just as a bell-to-bell performer, but someone that has earned the respect of his peers and that he could help those guys.

"Those younger guys that were marks for CM Punk’s work, his attitude, being defiant, somewhat controversial. I wish Punk was still in the game, maybe he will be someday.

"Randy is at the top of his game right now. There’s nobody in WWE or anywhere else that’s better than Randy Orton in my view. I know he’s controversial in real life but there’s some magic surrounding that."
