Jimmy Smith Praises Raw Segment Between Seth Rollins And Matt Riddle
Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle traded barbs on the August 29 WWE Raw
WWE aired one of their edgiest segments in years this past Monday, with an expletive laden argument between Matt Riddle and Seth Rollins on the August 29 edition of Raw.
The segment has been well received by fans, and also by those within WWE, with Raw lead announcer Jimmy Smith praising the segment on his Unlocking the Cage podcast:
“This is that, kind of, Triple H likes shaking it, up he really does,” said Smith. That's why we've had stuff where, with Seth Rollins and Riddle, we started out a show, I'm doing the open, and they come brawling out of Gorilla. 'Oh my God!' I did another open, and they interrupted again with another brawl. It's really difficult for me, because I'm always reacting to something, but it's fresh. It's different. Having two guys do an interview like they were, talking trash, we've all seen that before. To have this mot mic moment, it's different. It's interesting, it's fresh.”
The segment was a reference to a Jon Jones Daniel Cormier clash ahead of UFC 182 and when former MMA commentator Smith was asked if he gave the pair any notes he replied with a laugh "Maybe, maybe not.”
