Jinder Mahal Criticises WWE Over Lack Of South Asian Talent

Lack of South Asian talent in WWE an issue for Jinder Mahal

Reports recently revealed that WWE has become aware of its lack of booking black male wrestlers on ‘premium live events’, with the organisation criticised for its failure to adequately represent black voices on a major stage.

The report drew the attention of former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal, with Mahal replying to Cultaholic’s post on X/Twitter bemoaning WWE’s lack of South Asian talent:

“There is only one South Asian currently in WWE (@SunnyDhinsa). With over 2 Billion population, 1/4 people in the world are South Asian. Not a single talent in NXT/Performance Center. This is an issue,” wrote ‘The Maharaja’.

Mahal continued responding to fans in the replies, stating that:

“We need recruitment and then the opportunity… and let us be ourselves, not what creative thinks we should act/dress/look like.”

WWE has long relied on using cultural and racial stereotypes across its rosters, although this trend does seem to be a thing of the past. The company did have plans to launch an NXT India spin-off in the early 2020s but these plans did not come to fruition.
