Joe Doering's sister-in-law has announced he will soon enter hospice care amidst his third battle with brain cancer.
"Sad to share the news that Joe is heading to hospice soon. If anyone is local & would want to visit, please send a message. Joe could use all your good thoughts & prayers," Mandy Banh wrote on the GoFundMe page for Doering.
Doering has been battling brain cancer for a third time since December 2025. He was hospitalised in May of 2026, at which point chemotherapy was stopped. It is unknown if chemotherapy resumed following his hospitalisation.
Hospice care is traditionally introduced when an illness is diagnosed to be terminal. It continues until the end of an individual's life.
Doering was diagnosed with a brain tumour for the first time in 2016 and he underwent a successful surgery, as well as radiation and chemotherapy treatment. The cancer returned in 2022, though, and then returned for a third time in 2025.
Joe Doering began wrestling in 2004 and spent much of his career in All Japan Pro Wrestling, performing for the company across two runs from 2007 until 2019. He was a top star for AJPW, becoming a two-time Triple Crown Champion and four-time All Japan Tag Team Champion. Doering's All Japan runs were broken up by a seven-month stint for WWE in 2010.
Doering joined TNA in 2020 and he was a part of the Violent By Design stable, twice holding the TNA World Tag Team Championships. He stepped away from wrestling after the cancer returned in 2022.
Everyone at Cultaholic extends our best wishes to Joe Doering and his family and friends.
