Joe Hendry Addresses Criticism Of WWE Raw Concert Segment With Danhausen

Joe Hendry has addressed his widely criticised concert segment with Danhausen from the July 27 episode of Monday Night Raw that saw the popular wrestlers mash their catchphrases together into an "I believe that you are cursed" song.

"My thoughts are this, and I'll just be completely upfront and honest about this. We are all extremely passionate about what we do. Just to give you an idea here, when I signed with WWE, I made the decision that I was going to move to Orlando. I was going to not only commit 100 per cent to NXT, but I was going to move to Orlando. I was going to go to the classes, I was going to absorb as much knowledge as I could. I said, 'Put me on all the local shows.' I wanted to work all the shows that they do to contribute and to learn to be a part of the system," Hendry stated on Cheap Heat.

"And that is the attitude I've taken to WWE. The reason I bring that up is because us as performers and everybody that works at the company, we are so passionate about this business. The goal is and always has been for me is to give the audience value… We give absolutely everything that we've got. I give my absolute best efforts, and we're gonna try a lot of things. Some things are gonna land and some things won't, but we will always give our best efforts."

The segment, which saw Danhausen and Joe Hendry perform the song while professional dancers and minihausens danced around them, ended when boxer Ryan Garcia laid out Hendry with a guitar, which was the cue for a Judgment Day beatdown.

It was quickly named one of the worst segments in the history of WWE Raw and was so bad that WWE creative reportedly found themselves under pressure heading into SummerSlam.

Ryan Garcia, whose appearance was controversial due to his past racist and homophobic comments, was also critical of the segment, telling ESNews: "I wish they would have give me a better segment because then I wouldn't have got as much hate."
