WWE SummerSlam Match Almost Waved Off Due To Brie Bella Injury

Brie Bella revealed in the latest Bella Twins vlog that their six-woman tag team match at SummerSlam 2026 was almost scrapped due to Brie's injury.

"What's even crazier that some of the girls were talking about is when you broke your ankle you continued the match, and then I broke my shoulder, and it's so funny because you and I, I don't know if it's because we're people pleasers, but the whole time in my head I'm like, 'No, I've got to stay in so Nikki can get the hot tag.' They were telling me, 'Stay down.' They were thinking about calling the match. I'm like, 'No, no, no.' I was in crazy pain but all I could think about was, 'Nikki’s got to make that comeback,'" Brie said.

The Bella Twins teamed with Paige against Fatal Influence on night one of SummerSlam and Brie was injured early into the match following a cannonball from Jacy Jayne into the steel steps.

Brie was holding her shoulder for the remainder of the match, and even during the post-match angle that saw the Bella Twins turn on Paige following the loss to Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Lainey Reid.

Brie Bella announced following SummerSlam that she has been diagnosed with a broken shoulder blade. She will begin physiotherapy in a couple of weeks.

Brie Bella reunited with Nikki Bella at the 2026 Royal Rumble but the twins have been struck by injury for much of the year, with SummerSlam serving as Nikki's return match after five months out of action with a broken ankle, only for Brie to sustain an injury at the pay-per-view.
