John Cena Returning On 6/27 WWE Raw For Anniversary Celebration

20 years since his debut

John Cena will appear on the June 27 edition of Monday Night Raw in Laredo, TX, commemorating 20 years since his TV debut with WWE.

WWE confirmed the celebration with a video package during Monday's Raw. Cena tweeted following the announcement, writing, "Been far too long and what a special occasion to be able spend with the @WWEUniverse! Laredo, TX, C U soon!!!"

What Cena will be doing for his anniversary segment has not yet been announced.

Cena made his debut on the June 27, 2002 broadcast of WWE SmackDown in Chicago (taped two nights earlier) as a no-frills babyface, answering an open challenge from Kurt Angle. Cena lost that brief match to Angle, but was given a measure of respect backstage by WWE champion The Undertaker afterward.

Cena's most recent match was a six-man dark match at the September 10, 2021 SmackDown tapings, teaming with The Mysterios to face Roman Reigns and The Usos at Madison Square Garden. His last televised bout was at SummerSlam weeks earlier, losing to Reigns in a Universal title match.
