John Cena To Appear On 'The Simpsons'

The Simpsons set to be joined by John Cena

John Cena is set to take his next step forward in his movie and television career, with the multiple-time WWE Champion set to make a guest appearance in ‘The Simpsons’.

Cena is set to appear in the Season 36 (thirty-six - bloody hell) premiere episode ‘Bart’s Birthday’ on Sunday, September 29, with the episode preview stating that "Bart celebrates a birthday that will change his life forever.” No word on if the Shrieking Sheik will also feature in the episode.

The Simpsons official X/Twitter account revealed the news alongside a preview of Cena, but many were quick to point out that The Simpsons rendition of the ‘Dr. Of Thuganomics’ looks more like Dave Meltzer.

Cena will only be the second WWE star to guest on the show in its 36-year history, with Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart memorably appearing in the classic season eight episode ‘The Old Man and the Lisa’, with Hart purchasing the mansion of Mr. Burns after good old ‘CM’ Burns goes broke. Hart and Bart Simpson featured on the cover of the May 97 edition of WWF Magazine in order to hype the appearance.

Weirdly, Rob Van Dam is also part of Simpsons canon, with the 2005 release ‘Comic Book Guy’s Book of Pop Culture’ stating that the sarcastic comic book shop owner was once flattened by RVD at an ECW show. The indy geek.
