John Cena: WWE Doesn't Need Me

Cena is reportedly making a return next month

John Cena has spoken about his relationship with WWE and believes the company would have thrived without him, and will continue to do well regardless of if he makes appearances or not.

Cena was booked as WWE's premier attraction for over a decade, headlining five WrestleManias and winning the WWE or World Heavyweight Championship a combined 16-times.

The Franchise Player is reportedly scheduled to be making his comeback to WWE in line with the return of fans, on Friday 16 July, but Cena does not believe WWE need him to make a return.

Speaking to Complex News, Cena said: "I relate a lot of things to WWE, and this one falls directly in that line. What was it like to join the WWE locker room?

"WWE is already a global phenomenon, with or without John Cena, and that’s proven before I got there and certainly now that I’m not there anymore and they’re still thriving. They don’t need me. But it’s such an honor and a privilege to walk in that locker room and be able to go out and perform."
