In September,

PWInsider

reported that former Intercontinental Champion John Morrison had resigned with WWE. At the time Morrison claimed the story was false, tweeting: "Thanks for the heads up @PWInsider.com please lemme know when I'm signed with AEW - or ROH."

Despite this rebuttal, the rumours appear to have been true all along.

Ryan Satin announced during last night's episode of WWE Backstage

that Morrison had indeed re-signed with the company. Morrison later tweeted: "Confirmed, I have signed with @WWE - I've never been as good at anything as I am at wrestling & I can't wait to stand again in a #WWE ring opposite the most talented people in the business!!"

Since leaving WWE in 2011, Morrison has wrestled under a variety of names and companies. He competed in Lucha Underground as Johnny Mundo, where he was one of the promotion's top stars - becoming their second Triple Crown champion.

Morrison most recently graced our TV screens as Johnny Impact in IMPACT wrestling. He was the IMPACT World Champion for 196 days, before dropping the title to Brian Cage in April 2019.
