Johnny Elite (Morrison) Debuts On AEW Dynamite As The Men's Joker

It ain't no make believe

Johnny Elite (formerly John Morrison, as well as Johnny "bunch of other names") debuted on Wednesday's episode of AEW Dynamite, taking on Samoa Joe in the Owen Hart Foundation Cup quarterfinals as the mystery "Joker" entrant.

Late in the match, Elite attempted his Starship Pain finish, but Joe got the knees up. After a strike flurry, Joe finished Elite off following the Muscle Buster.

Both men were attacked after the match by Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh. Best Friends and Rocky Romero ended up making the save.

As of this writing, there is no indication that Elite has formally signed with AEW beyond this appearance.

As Morrison, Elite spent the better part of the 2000s wrestling for WWE, where he held the ECW World, WWE Intercontinental, and various forms of Tag Team championship (the latter in particular with The Miz and Joey Mercury). After leaving the company in 2011, Elite returned to WWE in 2019, where he reformed his old partnership with The Miz.

Elite was released from WWE in November, during a month with more than two dozen roster cuts. He has since wrestled for promotions such as GCW and AAA.
