Jon Moxley is one of the biggest stars in professional wrestling, but the AEW World Champion still wrestles for multiple independent wrestling promotions seemingly for the love of the sport.

One of Moxley’s stomping grounds is Game Changer Wrestling, with Mox a former GCW World Champion. Moxley worked a feud with GCW’s top draw Nick Gage in 2021 and 2022, with Gage revealing on a BLVD Bullies livestream that Moxley demanded GCW head Brett Lauderdale gave Gage equal pay:

“I wasn’t there but I know that definitely happened (Jon Moxley demanded Brett Lauderdale to pay him & Nick Gage the same amount). I was there, but I wasn’t in the vicinity… But I know that happened. I sat next to a guy that I was like, ‘Well, are you gonna tell me how much you get paid?’ And he got paid more than I did and I was like, ‘Wow.’ But, at the time before that, I really didn’t care. I was just so focused on wrestling. I was wrestling four times a week. But then I thought about, ‘You know what? There’s a lot of asses I put in these motherf****** seats…’ I don’t like talking s*** but just facts are facts. I earned my money,” said Gage.

Brett Lauderdale confirmed Gage’s story via a series of posts on X/Twitter:

“I will now make a shocking revelation: Yes, I was paying Jon Moxley – a major tv star of nearly a decade, a world champion, and the hottest wrestler in the industry more money than I was paying Nick Gage for their match in GCW.

“Yes, at Mox’s request I did end up increasing Nick’s pay for the match, to an amount equal to what he was paid to wrestle Chris Jericho on television.

“Not that any of you actually care about Nick, but he is my brother of 20+ years and that will never change.

In this same interview, the hosts repeatedly tried to get him to talk bad about me and he forcefully declined. Nick not only referred to me as his friend, but his FAMILY.

“We have been thru alot [sic] in 20 years. The real ones know. And to everyone else, go f*** yourself,” posted Lauderdale.

GCW are set to return to New York's Hammerstein Ballroom in January 2025.
