El Desperado's wish has come true.

The former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion challenged Jon Moxley to a match following Sunday's New Japan Road event, mentioning that he has had 'Wild Thing' stuck in his head since Forbidden Door. It was unclear if the match would actually happen but Moxley has accepted Despe's challenge on the condition that they go one-on-one in a No Disqualification match.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling have since agreed to the stipulation and Moxley will square off with El Desperado at the promotion's Music City Mayhem show on July 30 in Nashville, Tennessee. Being a No DQ Match, the contest has no rules and no time limits.

El Desperado and Moxley briefly interacted on AEW TV after Suzuki-gun became involved in the feud between the Jericho Appreciation Society and Blackpool Combat Club during the build to Forbidden Door. Despe then teamed with Yoshinobu Kanemaru in a loss to Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland on the Forbidden Door Buy-In. Moxley defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi for the Interim AEW World Championship in the main event of the June 26 pay-per-view.

If Moxley will put the Interim AEW World Title on the line against El Desperado remains to be seen.
