Jon Moxley Vs KENTA Set For NJPW New Beginning USA

The match is finally happening

NJPW has confirmed the date of Jon Moxley's long-overdue next United States title defense.

Moxley will defend the title against KENTA on Friday, February 26, at NJPW's New Beginning USA. The match will headline the second portion of a two-night match card, with El Phantasmo vs. Lio Rush headlining the first on February 19.

Moxley made his return to the New Japan scope this past Friday night on NJPW Strong, laying out number one contender KENTA in a show-closing angle.

The US champion is expected to appear on this Friday's episode of Strong as well.

Moxley has reigned as United States champion since defeating Lance Archer in a Texas Death match at Wrestle Kingdom 14 in January 2020. However, because of the pandemic restricting travel, Moxley has not wrestled for the organization since February of last year.

KENTA became number one contender to the belt by winning last year's New Japan Cup USA tournament. Since then, KENTA has made five successful defenses of his entitlement, defeating Jeff Cobb, Hiroshi Tanahashi, David Finlay, Brody King, and Satoshi Kojima.
