Jonathan Gresham Vs. Claudio Castagnoli Announced For ROH Death Before Dishonor

For the ROH World title

ROH World champion Jonathan Gresham will defend his championship against Claudio Castagnoli next Saturday night at Death Before Dishonor, as announced during Friday night's episode of AEW Rampage.

Gresham successfully defended his title against Lee Moriarty on the Fyter Fest edition of Rampage, forcing Moriarty to submit to a grounded octopus stretch. After the match, Gresham and Tully Blanchard were interviewed by Tony Schiavone, and they cut a promo putting over Gresham's technical prowess. This brought Castagnoli out to take exception, and the two exchanged words from afar. The title match was confirmed later in the night.

In his earlier tenure with Ring of Honor, Castagnoli never held the World title, but reigned twice as Tag Team champion with Kings of Wrestling partner Chris Hero.

The current card for ROH Death Before Dishonor, taking place Saturday, July 23, at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, MA, is as follows:

* ROH World: Jonathan Gresham (c) vs. Claudio Castagnoli

* ROH Television: Samoa Joe (c) vs. Jay Lethal

* ROH World Tag Team/Two out of Three Falls: FTR (c) vs. The Briscoes

* ROH Women's: Mercedes Martinez (c) vs. Serena Deeb

* ROH Pure: Wheeler Yuta (c) vs. Daniel Garcia
