Joseph Sawyer Comments After GCW Championship Match Stoppage

Joseph Sawyer has spoken after his recent GCW Championship defence, after exiting the match due to injury.

Sawyer - fka Joe Gacy in WWE - defended the GCW Championship against Jeffrey John at GCW The Score on September 26, having earlier defended the title against Jazzy Yang on the same show. During the match with John, Sawyer took a corner cannonball to the knee, with the referee stopping the bout, and Sawyer furiously exiting the arena without taking the title belt with him, yelling at fans and airing his frustrations on the mic.

Taking to social media post-match, Sawyer posted the following on X/Twitter in the wake of criticism from elements of the pro-wrestling audience for his conduct:

“To clear the air. Yes I did get hurt. No I didn’t finish the match. I tried to get the feeling back in my knee to see if I could and sadly I couldn’t. Luckily it seems like it isn’t anything that will put me out for an extended about of time. So yes I think I’ll be okay for now,” posted Sawyer.

On September 27, Sawyer posted a further update stating he was ‘already walking better’.

Sawyer recently debuted for TNA Wrestling alongside Samuel Shaw as the team Syx, with the duo attacking The Hardys in-ring. After the incident at GCW, some online opined that it was somehow related to Sawyer signing with TNA.
