Katsuyori Shibata To Challenge For ROH Pure Title At Supercard Of Honor XVI

Katsuyori Shibata at ROH Supercard of Honor!

Katsuyori Shibata is set to make his return to Ring of Honor at the promotion's upcoming Supercard of Honor XVI show on Friday, March 31.

Tony Khan has announced that Shibata will challenge Wheeler Yuta for the ROH Pure Championship at Supercard of Honor. The show will emanate from the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California.

Yuta vs. Shibata was made official after Yuta defeated Clark Connors to retain the Pure Title on March 16 and proceeded to call out Shibata following the win.

The Wrestler came out of retirement in 2021, four years after he suffered a life-threatening subdural hematoma following his match with Kazuchika Okada at Sakura Genesis 2017. Shibata previously unsuccessfully challenged Orange Cassidy for the AEW All-Atlantic Title in November 2022.

Supercard of Honor will be Shibata's first match in ROH since February 2017 when he and Jay Lethal defeated Cody Rhodes and Hangman Page in tag team action.

Also announced for Supercard of Honor is an ROH Six-Man Tag Team Title match of Brian Cage & The Gates of Agony vs. AR Fox, Blake Christian, and Metalik. The match could be Cage's final appearance for ROH as he has reportedly agreed to work with the promotion through Supercard of Honor.
