Kenny Omega & Chris Jericho Were Reportedly Very Close To Signing With IMPACT Wrestling Before AEW Announcement

Don Callis almost got the pair over the line...

A couple of weeks ago, Chris Jericho closed the All Elite Wrestling Double Or Nothing fan rally by announcing his arrival in the company.

Y2J took to his podcast not too long after the rally and claimed that IMPACT Wrestling made him a very good offer to sign for them. It looks like IMPACT were offering big money moves to a number of big names, as Dave Meltzer claims in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Kenny Omega was offered a deal by IMPACT as well.

For the avoidance of any doubt, here's what Dave penned in this week's WON: "Callis was very close to deals with both Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho before AEW came in. The expectation before AEW is that Omega would work for New Japan and do 30 dates per year here, and Jericho would work here because he’d have so much input on his creative if he wanted to work another year with New Japan. Obviously if Jericho had decided to end New Japan, he’d have gone to WWE, and that would have negated working here."

For those who are unaware, the 'Callis' Dave is referring to there is Don Callis, an English speaking New Japan Pro Wrestling commentator and Executive Vice President of IMPACT Wrestling.
