Kenny Omega Vs. Andrade Confirmed For TripleMania

The AAA Mega Championship will be on the line

After much speculation, a couple of videos, and a little back and forth on social media, Kenny Omega vs. Andrade has been made official by Lucha Libre AAA for their upcoming Triplemania 29 supershow.

Andrade kicked off the saga with a video of himself challenging the belt collector which aired at AAA Rey de Reyes, with Omega sarcastically responding on Twitter. Omega and Callis officially responded to Andrade via video at a Triplemania press conference on Tuesday, and the match will now go ahead on August 14.

Omega is the current AAA Mega Champion, having been in possession of the belt since October 2019 after deposing former champion Rey Fenix. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Omega hasn’t been able to regularly defend the gold, with his last successful defence coming at Triplemania 28 in December 2020.

This will be Andrade’s first high profile match since his WWE release in March, with his last televised WWE match occurring on October 12 2020, and has the potential to be a match of the year candidate.
