Last night saw the debut of AEW: Dark Elevation on YouTube.
The two hour show produced many matches, including a tag team bout pitting Matt and Mike Sydal against Jorel Nelson and NWA’s Royce Isaacs. The Sydals won the match, but were interrupted during a backstage promo by AEW World Champion Kenny Omega, flanked by Don Callis and Michael Nakazawa.
Omega told Sydal if he beat Nakazawa on Elevation, then he’d get an opportunity at Omega at a later date, and should Sydal beat Omega then he’d get an AEW World Title shot.
Sydal made short work of Nakazawa, but was instantly jumped by Omega who declared the match right there and then and defeated Sydal in seconds, in what was Sydal’s third match of the night. AEW President Tony Khan came out to lambast Omega and said he didn’t have the authority to make matches, then confirming that Omega vs. Sydal would take place on AEW: Dynamite on Wednesday March 24.
The stipulation is carrying over; should Sydal win then he’d receive an AEW World Title shot at a later date. Regardless of the outcome, Matt Sydal vs. Kenny oMega should be a good bout if given ample time.
