With All Elite Wrestling officially confirming that CM Punk will be returning to the company for the debut of AEW Collision on Saturday June 17, speculation has intensified as to what matches or feuds AEW have in-store for the former AEW World Champion upon his return.

One name who is never far away from news regarding CM Punk is NJPW’s KENTA, with the STRONG Openweight Champion having long lobbied for a match with the ‘Second City Saint’. Once again, KENTA called out Punk, Tweeting the following after Punk’s return was officially announced:

“I’m free on June 17th.”

KENTA is regarded as the inventor of the Go2Sleep, with Punk adopting the move as his finisher upon signing with WWE in 2005. Fans and KENTA alike have long wanted a match between the two to see who really is the master of the move, although Punk has seemingly rebuffed such requests from KENTA in the past.

A Pro Wrestling NOAH legend, KENTA has made several appearances for AEW, with his only match in an AEW ring coming in February 2021.
